Settlement & Adaptation

Image Place HolderWe offer guidance and support on personal and family adjustment issues, as well as referrals to community organizations. We also offer assistance for immigrants to adapt to the Canadian lifestyle and become equal members in our community and Canadian society.

Settlement Counsellors provide:

Information and Orientation – on all aspects of Canadian society, systems, services, life, and culture

Counselling and Support – in matters of settlement and adaptation to Canadian society and the community

Referrals – to other community support services and agencies

Documentation – assistance in completing applications such as permanent resident cards, citizenship, social benefits, passports, etc.

Service Linking – assist clients to access relevant services and resources through orientation, making appointments, interpretation and translation

Life Skills and Education – workshops and activities designed to increase awareness of legal rights and responsibilities, the cultural mosaic, and other aspects of Canadian life

Labour Market – provide basic labour market information, referrals, and job search tips

Service Bridging – assist community service providers in understanding and serving immigrant clients

Networking and Partnerships – linking with community members and organizations for the benefit of the immigrant population and the mainstream community
